Considered first class vineyards in Germany, the Koberner Uhlen and Koberner Weissenberg are breath-taking steep and terraced sites facing south, providing optimal sun exposure. Sheltered by thick forests above and the closeness of the Mosel River, an exceptionally warm microclimate is created for the vineyards. The distinct composition of the slate soil leads to the unique character of the wines from these sites.
The vines in the Koberner Uhlen grow on reddish brown slate providing enhanced minerality and rather full bodied wines particularly desired in dry wines.
The Koberner Weissenberg, with its dominating grey weathered slate provides more elegance, especially for medium-dry and fruit-driven wines.
